What you need:

  • Gift or collection of gift items
  • Cellophane
  • Twist tie
  • Ribbon or bow
  • Clear tape

Do you find that working with a durable plastic material in clear or printed styles is your preferred method to closing a package?

If so, than cellophane is for you. It's a sturdy product that easily covers a box, basket, tote bags, plush animal, wired container, or box of chocolates.

One type of cellophane wrapping style is shown with the plain, white box wrapping example, and there are other options. The above photo shows cellophane being applied around a snack-filled basket. It's a method that many crafters and professional gift basket designers choose to wrap baskets, especially during the holidays when gift giving is popular.

Cellophane is available in many varieties.

  • Clear/plain

  • Opaque (Easter baskets are often sealed with this type)

  • Printed (flowers, words, balloons, etc.)

  • 20, 30, and 40 inch widths

Wrapping a gift in cellophane is as easy as the instructions to close the plain, white box. Make sure the gift or container is centered within the cellophane. Bring all edges together in an upward manner and hold within your grasp.

While holding the cellophane material with one hand, cinch it together with a twist tie. Add the ribbon or bow where the twist tie is placed, also known as the "neck." When finished, remove the twist tie.

Add additional curling ribbon around the neck if desired.

The DVDs, Gift Basket Basics and 10 Dazzling Designs, show you how to make a gift basket in an easy, step-by-step format.
